Of This House
Marti
Stevens, 1995
So the walls of this
house
Are falling down they will be rebuilt
And through the halls of this house
The only sound is a silent tilt
The windows are all shattered
Boarded up, the curtains tattered
There's not much left to keep up the facade
But there'll always
be love in this house
It's foundation was set long before us
No fire will destroy or earthquake rouse
'Cause there's love in the heart
Of this house
So the well of this
house
Has run dry it will flow again
And through the roof of this house
You see the sky, feel the wind and rain
And though the paint is peeling
The weather will bring healing
And time will cure the ill and the pain
'Cause there'll always
be love in this house
It's foundation was set long before us
No fire will destroy or earthquake rouse
'Cause there's love in the heart
Of this house
As long as there's
stars that will shine
This house will surely stand all the tests of time
No fire will destroy or earthquake rouse
'Cause there's love in the heart
Of this house
